Who I Am
I'm Alex Morgan — a certified vocal coach with nine years of teaching experience across private instruction, group workshop facilitation, and online education consulting. I hold a certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from Berklee Online, which is where I first became interested in the technical rigor (and frequent lack of it) in online vocal training products.
My teaching background spans a wide range of students: complete beginners in their 40s and 50s who were told as children they couldn't sing, semi-professional musicians looking to extend their range, and musical theatre students preparing for auditions. That diversity of student experience gave me a clear picture of what effective vocal instruction looks like — and what it doesn't.
I started OnlineSingingLessons.online in early 2024 out of genuine frustration. I was recommending online platforms to my private students as homework tools, and I couldn't find a reliable, independent source of reviews that wasn't either (a) obviously written by someone without real vocal training, or (b) structured entirely around maximizing affiliate revenue with no regard for actual product quality. Most "best online singing lessons" articles I found were written by people who had never opened a single course they were recommending.
So I built the resource I wanted to exist. Every platform reviewed on this site has been personally used by me for a minimum of 30 days. I assess each platform against a defined set of criteria, record my experience in detail, and publish honest conclusions — including real negatives — regardless of commission structure. If a platform doesn't serve beginners well, I say so. If it does, I explain exactly why.
When I'm not testing singing platforms or writing reviews, I still teach private students online and run occasional vocal workshops. I live with my partner and our two extremely opinionated cats, neither of whom have attempted to improve their singing since I started this project.
Our Review Methodology
Every review published on this site follows the same testing protocol. Here's exactly how I evaluate each platform:
Lesson Structure
Does the curriculum progress logically? Can a beginner follow Day 1 without confusion?
Coach Credentials
What are the instructors' formal training backgrounds? Are techniques anatomically accurate?
Price / Value
Does the subscription cost reflect the quality and quantity of content? How does it compare to alternatives?
Beginner Accessibility
Can someone with zero experience start Day 1 without feeling overwhelmed or lost?
Real Results
Did my pitch accuracy, range, tone, or technique measurably improve over 30 days of use?
Trial Policy
Does the platform offer a meaningful free trial? Is a money-back guarantee available?
Each criterion is rated on a 1–10 scale. Final scores are a weighted average, with lesson structure and real results carrying the highest weighting. Scores are recalculated whenever a platform makes significant curriculum or pricing changes — all articles display a "last updated" date to reflect this.
I spend a minimum of 30 consecutive days on each platform before publishing a review. For platforms with multiple curriculum levels (like 30 Day Singer), I work through Level 1 in full and assess Level 2 and genre courses in partial depth. Total time invested per platform review: 20–40 hours across testing, note-taking, and writing.
Affiliate Disclosure
This site participates in the 30 Day Singer affiliate program and other affiliate programs. When you purchase through our links, we earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This commission never influences our rankings — 30 Day Singer earned #1 because it is genuinely the best platform we tested, not because it pays the highest commission.
All affiliate links are clearly marked with rel="sponsored" in the HTML. Our review methodology, scoring criteria, and editorial conclusions are determined independently of any commercial relationship.
I test every platform I review regardless of whether an affiliate program exists. Several platforms in our comparison rankings (including ArtistWorks and Yousician) are reviewed without any affiliate relationship — they're included because they're genuinely part of the competitive landscape.
If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, a small commission comes to this site. That commission funds the time I put into testing, writing, and maintaining these reviews. It does not fund positive opinions.
